Fine Art Palm Springs Aerial Photography and Video

Flying UAS with a fine art quality camera attached has become a passion.  I do aerial photography and video for my fine art work and because I love to fly.

To achieve my top notch aerial fine art, I do use commercial grade gear.

I also maintain FAA registration and follow FAA guidelines at all times.

For the gear heads out there. Here’s what we fly:

  • DJI s900 w/ e1200 propulsion system
  • DJI Zenmuse Z15 GH4 HD gimbal
  • Panasonic GH4 camera with the Olympus Zuiko 12mm f2.0 lens  (This is a Micro Four Thirds (MFT) sensor which you can see below is much larger than a GoPro or DJI Inspire X3.)

Actual DJI s900 with the Zenmuse Z15 GH4 HD and GH4 Camera.

This diagram shows you the difference in image sensor size.

The DJI Inspire Pro X5 also has an MFT sensor, however DJI compresses its video to 60 Bits per second where as the Panasonic Lumix GH4 camera shoots at 200 bits per second. This gives me much, much better low light shots and video without artifacts. IE, the video looks way smoother with better highlight and shadow detail

We generally shoot in 4K at 30 fps and 200 bit per second recording rate and then in post we pull out the stills you need and we end up with both commercial quality stills and video.

Here are links to some samples of my artwork. Where a UAS was used, all of the work was done at no charge.

NOTE: For you, ,me and the public, safety and privacy are top concerns of mine.  When I’m shooting aerial photography and video. I plan ahead, stay out of FAA air space, notify property owners/managers and the FAA when I’m going to fly.  If you are a novice pilot or would simply like to learn more please feel free to contact me.
